Dragon Dictate 2.5.2 USB Ear-Microphone stops working

Try these steps to fix it.

  1. Launch Dragon Dictate 2.5.2 and go to Tools -> Profiles
  2. Select your USB Ear-Microphone Profile in case you have multiple User Profiles
  3. On Audio Sources, take note of the currently active Audio Source, it defaults to "Standard Audio Source." unless you have added a second audio device / source.
  4. Hit the Plus [+] button to add a new Audio Source
  5. Set name to "fake audio" or what ever you want to call it.
  6. Hit Continue to create the User Profile.
  7. When it get to the Volume Adjustment / Microphone Setup window, close it out.
  8. Go back to Tools -> Profiles and set the Audio Source back to "Standard Audio Source" (or select the last working audio source)
  9. Hit Continue to load the Profile
  10. The USB Ear-Microphone should work after switching to a different audio source.
Whenever you quit Dictate or reset your computer, the USB Ear-Microphone may stop working again, so all you needed to do is to open Profile and set the Audio Source to "fake audio," hit Continue to load it. When it goes into Volume Adjustment / Microphone Setup, cancel it then go back into Profile and switch it back to the Standard Audio Source (or the last working Audio Source.)

How to install Firefox 8.0 in CranchBang Linux

It’s a surprise how easy it is to install Firefox 8.0 on CrunchBang Linux. I downloaded the installation file provided by Mozilla in .tar.bz2 format. Extracted it and moved it to my /opt directory and set it as my default browser. There is no need to compile the program, the archive already contain pre-compiled binary files. Installing it from Synaptic Package Manager will install the previous version.

While some people are concerned about Firefox’s rapid release cycle, I don’t care! this is good free stuff you don’t want to miss.
